Technology With the new ŠKODA Octavia, a wide range of infotainment features are included as standard. For instance, entry-level SE trims are equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen which provides access to satellite navigation, an eight-speaker sound system (with DAB radio) and wireless Android/Apple smartphone integration. Bluetooth connectivity, five USB-C ports, voice control and a 10.25-inch driver instrument display are also included. Awarded a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating, the new Octavia is very safe indeed. Standard-issue protective tech includes Drive Alert System, which closely monitors driver behaviour. If any noticeable deviations are identified (erratic steering, lane deviations, etc.), audible and visual warnings will let you know that it’s time to take a break.

Interior The third-generation Octavia was already very spacious, and the Mk. IV model is even more so. This means that there’s abundant knee, leg and headroom in both compartments, ensuring that this five-seater offers optimal comfort on even the longest of journeys. The new ŠKODA Octavia now features a larger, 600-litre boot – and whenever even more luggage capacity is required, simply drop the rear seats to unveil a total 1,555-litre capacity (non-PHEV models). Let’s compare this with, say, the Volkswagen Golf, which offers a maximum 381/1,237-litre volume.
